The Murdered Lester Mickens

The Murdered Lester Mickens
Kinnelon, Morris County, New Jersey

On the morning of September 18, 1986 at 9:00 a.m., the body of 89 year old army veteran Lester Mickens was found by his neighbors inside of his home at 1671 Route 23 in Kinnelon, NJ. He had been beaten to death. It was also realized that someone had cut Lester’s phone lines right before he was murdered. Robbery is believed to be the motive, due to checks and money being missing from the residence. Lester was last seen alive on Wednesday, September 17, 1986 at 3:00 p.m by his neighbor sitting on his porch. Lester lived alone and was a veteran of both world wars along with serving during the Vera Cruz conflict.

Lester’s murder remains unsolved.
