45 year old Alexander Messier was murdered outside of his home in Pequannock, New Jersey on Monday, February 3, 1969 at approximately 2:55 a.m. He awoke suddenly, hearing his daughter screaming for help. Alexander had chased an intruder outside and was killed trying to defend his family. The assailant escaped and is still unidentified. 
A composite sketch of the suspect was created, being a white male appearing to be around the same age as Alexander, standing 6 feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. The man was said to have receding brown hair with “lots of hair on the sides.” He was wearing a waist length jacket with a “V” at the neck.

There is no information online about the weapon that was used in the slaying. 

Alexander Messier’s homicide is still unsolved.
