The Murdered
Iris Maldonado
North Brunswick New Jersey

On July 27, 1999, 22 year old mother of four, Iris Maldonado’s body was found stuffed inside of a storm drain at the “Jack Pincus Senior Citizens Apartment Complex” on Remsen Avenue and Nassau Street in North Brunswick, New Jersey. She had been stabbed multiple times. It is presumed that on the night of July 26th, Iris was killed and her body had been carted about 6 blocks from her house in a large 30 – 40 gallon dark colored trash can with wheels to the storm drain. It is unknown how this was figured out. Nearby neighbors did not recall seeing anyone hauling a trashcan when questioned by authorities.
A man who lived in the apartment below the Maldonado’s residence recalls Iris and her 30 year old live-in boyfriend, Frank Camacho, having a major fight in February of the same year and then again on Sunday, July 25, after Iris was seen by coworkers leaving her job at “Odd Job Trading” on Route 18 in East Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. The next day, Frank Camacho told authorities he last saw her at a bus stop at George and Albany Streets in downtown New Brunswick, heading to her job for a 5:00 p.m. shift. Frank claims he saw her as he was taking a different bus to Woodbridge Center to get something for the children. He was supposed to meet Iris back at the bus stop that night but when he arrived at 10 p.m. she was not there. At first, Frank thought Iris went to visit her uncle in Perth Amboy but he began to worry when he found out that Iris didn’t even make it to work that day.
It later came to light that Iris’s four sons were all taken into state custody just days before she was killed.
Iris Maldonado’s murder remains unsolved.
