The Murdered Heraida “Iris” Ayala

The Murdered
Heraida “Iris” Ayala
Allentown, Pennsylvania

On Tuesday, January 15, 1985, 36 year old mother of 4, Heraida “Iris” Ayala was found to be murdered at 11:45 a.m. inside of her apartment at 201 North 4th Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The place had been ransacked. Iris was located in her bedroom with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. She had not been answering phone calls, so her boyfriend and a few of her friends broke into her home out of concern, because she wasn’t coming to the door either.
According to an autopsy, Heraida was deceased for 36 to 48 hours before she was discovered.
She was either divorced or separated at the time, and her 4 children were living in Puerto Rico.
County court records showed that Iris was awaiting a court date, as she was being charged with possession and delivery of cocaine and heroin.
Heraida’s murder remains unsolved.
