The Murdered Robert Edwards

The Murdered
Robert Edwards
Allentown, Pennsylvania

Robert Edwards was 47 years old when he was shot and killed inside of his own vehicle at a busy intersection in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Christmas night of 2006.
At 2:00 a.m., Robert was heading home from a family Christmas party at an aunt’s house in the 800 block of North Fifth Street, that he, his fiancée, his children and around 30 other family members attended. Robert and his fiancée were the last to leave the party, and their home was only 3 blocks away. Robert drove south on Fifth Street, and pulled to a stop at a stop sign at Washington Street.
As he was stopped, Robert Edwards was shot repeatedly through his car door. His fiancée was sitting in the passenger seat unharmed, as Robert had shielded her with his body.
Despite the late hour, the intersection was buzzing with witnesses, and yet, no one seemed to have seen a thing.
The Allentown police have released minimal information, only saying they do not believe the motive was drug related or a robbery.
Robert was a local youth counselor and a teacher’s aide at KidsPeace; he also volunteered as a basketball coach at the Allentown Boys and Girls Club.
Robert’s murder remains unsolved.
