The Murdered Stevie Bates

The Murdered
Stevie Bates
Queens, New York

On September 18, 2020, the skeletal remains of Stevie Bates were uncovered wrapped in a blanket during an excavation at a former abandoned house at 80-97 Cypress Avenue in Glendale, New York. Her cause of death has not been determined.
Stevie had been reported missing in April of 2012 after she disappeared from a cross-country trip with friends when she was 19 years old. It was said that the group was trying to make it to California, but for unknown reasons they had to turn around, and Stevie boarded a bus in Arkansas heading to NYC. On April 27th, Stevie borrowed a cellphone and called her mother Vivian Jones while she was on a Greyhound Bus layover in Pittsburgh PA. She told her mother she was heading to see her and she would be arriving in New York City at 5:40 a.m. the next morning. She was last seen on footage from the NY Port Authority bus terminal security cameras. Stevie was supposed to go to Brooklyn to visit her ex boyfriend named Brandon Klosterman before going to her moms house in Yonkers. She supposedly never showed up at Brandon’s house and was never seen alive again.
Brandon had addiction issues and was in and out of rehabs. He has a record for petty criminal activity. When questioned by police, he said he had not seen her. Brandon deleted his Facebook chat thread with Stevie.
Stevie’s case remains unsolved.
