The Murdered
LaDawn Roberts
Hartford, Connecticut

✨🕊️ Remembering LaDawn Roberts, Seeking Justice🕊️✨
On June 20, 1999, 28 year old LaDawn Roberts was found tragically murdered on the back porch of an abandoned building on Garden Street in Hartford. Five months pregnant and loved by a large, close-knit family, LaDawn had recently fallen on hard times before her life was stolen by brutal violence. Her death marked the first in a series of eerily similar attacks on vulnerable women in Hartford between 1999 and 2001, all involving severe head trauma and partially removed clothing. While DNA eventually led investigators to Matthew Steven Johnson, who was convicted of three murders, there was not enough evidence to charge him in LaDawn’s case, which remains unsolved. Today, the State of Connecticut is offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information that could finally bring answers and closure.
If you know anything that could help solve LaDawn’s murder, please contact the Cold Case Unit at 1-866-623-8058 or email cold.case@ct.gov.
Her family, and her memory, deserve justice. 💛🕯️
