In 1998, 26 year old Agnieszka “Agnes/Niki” Ziemlewski was tragically shot and killed along her regular walking route at the MDC Reservoir in Farmington, Connecticut, just steps from Old Mountain Road. Agnes, who immigrated from Poland as a child, had built a bright life in Connecticut, graduating from UConn, working at United Health Care, and living in West Hartford. Her murder was not believed to be random, and despite hundreds of interviews over the years, her case remains unsolved. Police have made progress, including a 2020 arrest of a woman charged with hindering the investigation, and detectives, now working closely with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, say they are closer than ever to uncovering the truth. Nearly 50 new people have been interviewed, and the investigation remains active, committed, and hopeful. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Agnes’s killer. Authorities are urging anyone with even the smallest detail, even if fear kept you silent in the past, to please come forward. Agnes’s loved ones, friends, and community still seek the closure they’ve waited more than two decades for. 🕯️💛
