The Murdered
Wanda Lee Walkowicz
Rochester, New York

🕊️ Remembering the Alphabet Murders | Rochester, NY 🕯️
In April 1973, 11 year old Wanda Walkowicz disappeared after a simple trip to the grocery store near her home in Rochester, New York. She was last seen walking back with groceries for her mother, but never made it home. The next morning, her body was found at a rest area near Route 104 in Webster. She was raped and strangled. Wanda’s case became one of three tragic, unsolved killings known as the “Alphabet Murders,” named for the chilling coincidence that each young victim’s first and last initials matched the town where they were found. The other victims, Carmen Colon and Michele Maenza, were discovered in 1971 and 1973. Though never officially linked, all three cases remain open decades later.

Authorities continue to seek answers, hoping someone with information will finally help bring justice to these girls and closure to their families. 💔🕯️
