🕯️💔 Carmen Colón: The First Alphabet Murder 💔🕯️

In November 1971, 10 year old Carmen Colón disappeared in Rochester, New York, while running a simple errand for her grandmother. After stopping at a pharmacy on West Main Street, she was seen getting into a nearby car and never returned home. Later that evening, multiple motorists reported seeing a young girl attempting to escape from a vehicle along Interstate 490, desperately trying to get help, yet no one intervened. Two days later, Carmen’s body was discovered near the village of Churchville, about 12 miles from where she was last seen. She was raped and strangled. Her death shocked the community and sparked widespread outrage, leading to billboards, public appeals, and a growing reward fund for information. Despite intense media coverage and numerous leads, no one was ever charged. Carmen’s case became the first of what would later  be known as the Alphabet Murders, and her story remains a painful reminder of a life stolen and justice still unanswered. 🕊️
