🕯️ Remembering Henryk Siwiak | A Life Lost on 9/11 🌃
Shortly before midnight on September 11, 2001, Henryk Siwiak, a 46 year old Polish immigrant, was fatally shot through the lung in Brooklyn’s Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood after mistakenly traveling to the wrong area for a new job. A husband and father of two from Kraków, Poland, Henryk had come to New York to support his family, sending money home while hoping to one day return and build a better life. On a day already marked by tragedy, limited police resources and fear across the city may have hindered the investigation into his death. He was not robbed, and the case remains unsolved, making Henryk often remembered as the last person killed in New York City on 9/11, though not a victim of the attack himself. His story remains largely unknown, quietly mourned by loved ones as a cold case that still waits for answers. 💔
