🕯️ Cold Case Hope: Remembering Rebecca Nicholson 🔍
On December 13, 1990, 49 year old Rebecca Nicholson was found shot to death in the bedroom of her Prospect Road home in Westfield, New York, a case that has remained unsolved for more than three decades. Her body was discovered by her brother, William Lynch, who was legally blind and had moved in with her shortly before her death. She was shot once through the heart with a small caliber weapon. Investigations revealed cut window screens, a partially opened window, and damage to a door, indicating someone had broken in, and some of Nicholson’s jewelry was later reported missing. Despite interviews with family, neighbors, and coworkers, detectives were never able to gather enough evidence to file charges. Now, with major advancements in technology, county investigators have resubmitted evidence from the home to the New York State Police crime lab in hopes of developing a DNA profile that could identify a suspect and finally bring answers in a case that has long haunted the community. 🧬
