The Murdered
Sharon Marie Thor
Franklin Township, New Jersey

🩰 Remembering Sharon Thor 🕊️
Sharon Thor was a vibrant, ballet-loving teenager from Franklin Township, New Jersey, known for dancing around her home, dreaming of opening her own dance school, and fiercely caring for her family, especially her younger brother. On October 26, 1982, just two days before her 16th birthday, Sharon received a phone call that seemed to please her, told her mother she would “be right back,” and got into a car with two men outside her home, something entirely out of character for her. She never returned. Three days later, her brutally beaten body was found in a wooded area a quarter mile from her house. Sharon’s murder remains unsolved more than 40 years later, leaving her family and small community grieving and searching for answers. Though the pain has softened with time, the loss endures, and loved ones still hope that justice will one day be served for the young dancer whose life was taken far too soon.
Anyone with information concerning Sharon Thor’s murder is asked to call the Franklin Township Police Department at (732) 873-5533 ext. 2020. To remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward, call the TIPS hotline at (732) 873-7277.💙
