Just before 4 a.m. on March 2, 1996, 23 year old Joann “Jody” Elizabeth LeCornu was fatally shot while sitting in her car in the 6300 block of York Road in Baltimore County, Maryland. Earlier that night, Jody had visited the Mount Washington Tavern, then stopped at the Curb Shoppe Bar & Grill on Falls Road before driving to the Drumcastle Shopping Center. While parked there, a man approached her vehicle and shot her once in the back. Despite being wounded, Jody managed to drive across York Road to the York Road Plaza, where her car eventually stopped. Investigators believe the suspect followed her, reached into her vehicle, and took something before fleeing southbound on York Road in a white BMW. Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male with a stocky build wearing a green or camouflage-style coat. Although fingerprints, witnesses, and other evidence were collected, no arrests have been made. Nearly three decades later, Jody’s family, especially her twin sister, Jennifer, continues to seek justice, urging anyone with information to come forward so this long-standing cold case can finally be solved. 💔🕯️
