Tracy Ann Byrd was just 14 years old when she vanished on March 7, 1983, after being dropped off at Bensalem High School in Bensalem Township, Pennsylvania. Unbeknownst to her family, Tracy had been suspended and was not allowed to attend classes, a secret she kept hidden. After unsuccessfully trying to convince friends to skip school with her, she disappeared and has never been seen again. Initially believed to be a runaway, partly due to a prior brief incident and unconfirmed rumors that she may have been pregnant, investigators now consider that theory unlikely, as Tracy was close to her mother and loved ones believe she would have returned home if she could. Tragically, Tracy’s mother, Jean Byrd, disappeared seven months later and was found murdered; her boyfriend, Paul Greenwald, confessed to that crime but was never linked to Tracy’s disappearance and later died by suicide. While Paul Greenwald was once a suspect, police now believe someone else may be responsible. Decades later, Tracy’s case remains unsolved, foul play is suspected, and investigators continue to pursue leads, determined to bring answers and justice for a girl who vanished far too young and has never been forgotten.
