🕊️ Vandy Jane Doe — Nashville’s Unidentified Victim 🕊️
On September 8, 2018, a couple driving along a secluded stretch of Sulphur Creek Road in Nashville, Tennessee, made a heartbreaking discovery: the severely decomposed body of a young woman found in a roadside ditch. Believed to be between 15 and 25 years old, approximately 5’ to 5’5” tall, and of Black, possibly Hispanic ancestry, her death is being investigated as a suspected homicide. Due to the condition of her remains, little is known about her physical features beyond her curly black hair. She was dressed head to toe in Vanderbilt University–branded clothing, including an Under Armour jacket marked “VANDY,” leggings with Vanderbilt logos, and a running belt, leading investigators to nickname her “Vandy Jane Doe” and consider possible ties to Vanderbilt University or nearby events, though no missing students or staff were reported. Recent forensic genetic genealogy revealed she had Italian-American and African-American ancestry, with potential relatives in Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee. Family surnames of interest include: Mangarelli/Mengarelli, Brunetti, Sagrati, Avaltroni, Butler, and Moore. Authorities believe her body was intentionally concealed, and they continue to seek information that could finally give her name back. 🕯️💔🔍
