The Murdered Barbara Agnew

The Murdered
Barbara Agnew
Hartland, Vermont

💔 Justice for Barbara Agnew 🔍

On January 10, 1987, a 39 year old nurse named Barbara Agnew was driving home to Norwich, Vermont after a day of skiing at Stratton Mountain, when her green BMW was found abandoned at a northbound I-91 rest area in White River Junction. The car door was open, blood stained the steering wheel, and Barbara was nowhere to be found. Family and investigators were puzzled, as she was just minutes from home and was experienced in driving through winter storms. Weeks later, personal items and clothing linked to Barbara were discovered in a nearby dumpster, deepening concerns for her safety.
After months of searching, hikers tragically found Barbara’s body on March 28, 1987, in a wooded area of Hartland, Vermont, near an apple tree. She was still wearing her ski bib and lift ticket. An autopsy revealed she had suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and a traumatic head injury. Her murder shared chilling similarities with other unsolved killings along the Connecticut River Valley during that era, raising fears she may have crossed paths with a serial killer. Despite fingerprints recovered from her vehicle and several persons of interest, no suspect has ever been charged, and her case remains open.
