18 year old Cheryl McCarthy was found deceased on December 23, 1969, in a closed section of the BMT El-train subway station at 132nd Street and Jamaica Avenue in Queens, New York. She had been traveling from 131-11 Kew Gardens Road and was supposed to meet a friend named Margaret on the platform at 8:00 p.m., but Cheryl never arrived and Margaret eventually left. Cheryl was discovered around 9:30 p.m., face down, wearing a green coat, beige-brown plaid pants that were partially pulled down, one brown shoe with the other nearby, and a wide-brimmed hat. She showed signs of having been beaten, and her death was ruled a homicide caused by ligature strangulation. 💔
