🕊️ Still Unsolved: Katherine “Kathy” Woods (1976) 🕊️

13 year old Katherine “Kathy” Woods disappeared on June 3, 1976, after leaving Burrs Lane Junior High School in Dix Hills, New York, and was last seen around 5:30 p.m. with friends near Arbor Lane and Caledonia Road, just blocks from her home on Redwood Drive. When she never returned, her family reported her missing. Three days later, her body was discovered about nine feet off Sweet Hollow Road near Jericho Turnpike, wrapped in a canvas sheet. Investigators determined she had been abducted, sexually assaulted, and forcibly gagged, with the medical examiner ruling asphyxiation as the cause of death. Authorities believe she was held captive for up to two days before being killed. Over the years, a sex offender named Steven Impellizzeri was investigated due to similarities to another crime he was convicted of, but no charges were ever filed in Kathy’s case. Despite ongoing interest and theories, including speculation about Kathy being a possible victim of serial killer Richard Cottingham, her murder remains unsolved. 💔
