On the night of October 27, 2007, during Homecoming Weekend at Rowan University in Glassboro New Jersey, 19 year old sophomore Donald Farrell III was approached by a group of 5 men near the Triad Apartments after they asked for directions; moments later, he was attacked from behind, beaten, and robbed of his wallet. Donnie died the next day from his injuries, leaving his family and campus community devastated. Investigators believe the assault may have been random, and a key suspect, captured on convenience store surveillance wearing a very rare red-and-gray Coogi Heritage hoodie and a Yankees baseball cap, possibly using the nickname “Smoke,” has never been identified. Despite witnesses, video evidence, and a $100,000 reward, the case remains an unsolved homicide actively pursued by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and Rowan University Police.
