Tragic 2013 Hit-and-Run in Westtown, NY 🚗
On August 26, 2013, at approximately 5 p.m., the Orange County 911 Center received a call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on County Route 1 in Westtown New York, and that the driver had fled the scene. When troopers from the New York State Police arrived, they found 86 year old Donald Wester in serious condition. Investigators later determined that Wester had been walking to his mailbox when he was hit by a passing vehicle. He was airlifted to Westchester County Medical Center for treatment of severe head trauma but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities believe Wester may have been struck by a silver or light-colored minivan, possibly with damage to the passenger side. The fatal hit-and-run remains under investigation.
