๐๏ธ Remembering Rodney Shelton ๐
On October 10, 2012, at approximately 11:01 p.m., the life of 18 year old Rodney Jerome Shelton was tragically cut short in a drive-by shooting in the 2600 block of Q Street in Richmond, Virginia. According to the Richmond Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Rodney and a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds outside a residence. Rodney was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female victim was transported to VCU Medical Center, where she recovered from her injuries.
Rodney had been walking home with friends when the shooting occurred. At the time of his death, he was preparing to receive his GED, a milestone he never got to celebrate. In a bittersweet gesture, his former teacher later presented his diploma to his mother as what would have been a 19th birthday gift. His mother, Louise Shelton, has continued to speak out, hoping that someone who witnessed the events of that night will come forward with new information. She believes that answers and accountability will finally bring her the closure she desperately seeks.
Anyone with information about Rodney Sheltonโs homicide is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. ๐ค
