🚨🕊️ The Homicide of Velma Peregory 🕯️🚨

On the morning of February 26, 1987, at approximately 8:45 a.m., 57-year-old Velma Peregory was found shot to death inside her locked apartment in the 3500 block of Francis Land Court in Virginia Beach. She had last been seen the previous morning, February 25, around 7:45 a.m., near her home in the Rose Hall Apartment complex. When a friend became concerned after being unable to reach her, a maintenance worker helped gain entry to the apartment, where Velma was discovered. Authorities later determined she had been shot, and her death was ruled a homicide. A search of the scene revealed no clear motive, no signs of forced entry, and nothing of value appeared to be taken.
Velma was a widow, mother of three sons, and a devoted grandmother who had recently welcomed two grandchildren into her life. Described by her oldest son, Randy Peregory, as a loving, church-going woman who read Bible stories to her children each night, she was preparing to move at the time of her death. Despite an immediate investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department, no arrests have ever been made. Neighbors reported hearing no gunshots, and police found cash and jewelry untouched, leading investigators to believe she may have known her killer. Randy has consistently denied any involvement, cooperated fully with authorities, and even submitted to polygraph examinations.
Decades later, Velma’s murder remains unsolved. Her family continues to hope that advances in DNA technology or a new tip will finally bring answers and justice.
