The Murdered Geraldine Ross

The Murdered
Geraldine Ross
Fredericksburg, Virginia

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Geraldine Ross 🕯️

Geraldine Ross was a 27 year old woman who tragically lost her life on December 9, 1994, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. That morning, she had dropped off her eight year old son, Jonathan, at school as usual. When she did not arrive to pick him up that afternoon, Jonathan walked home to their apartment at the Forest Village Apartments in the 1600 block of Forrest Village Drive. Finding the door locked, he waited outside in the cold for several hours until a maintenance worker noticed him and unlocked the apartment. Inside, Jonathan discovered his mother lying unresponsive on the bedroom floor. Authorities later determined that Geraldine had been stabbed and strangled, and she had been deceased for some time before being found. Investigators noted there were no signs of forced entry, suggesting she may have known her attacker.

The case remains an unsolved homicide. Over the years, the Fredericksburg Police, working alongside the FBI, has continued to investigate Geraldine’s death. Evidence has been resubmitted for modern forensic testing, and both previous and newly identified individuals are being re-interviewed in hopes of uncovering new leads.

Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward and contact the Fredericksburg Police Department at 540-373-3122.

Even decades later, investigators believe that someone may hold the key to finally bringing justice for Geraldine Ross and peace to her family. 💔
