🕊️ Unsolved Case: Edward Neal Jr. 💔
On the night of March 5, 2021, at approximately 10:43 p.m., officers with the Hampton Police Division were dispatched to the 1000 block of Bethel Avenue in Hampton after reports of a stabbing that was quickly upgraded to a shooting at 1015 Bethel Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Edward Neal Jr. lying in the grass next to a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the neck. Officers immediately began CPR, and medics continued life-saving efforts when they arrived on scene. Investigators later learned that Neal had been inside a back room of the residence playing video games with a group of three to four individuals when gunfire erupted and he was struck. After being shot, Neal walked out of the room holding his neck and managed to make his way outside, where his friends attempted to help him until police arrived. He was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:15 p.m. The incident was classified as a homicide, and investigators confirmed Neal had been shot while inside the residence. As of the latest updates, authorities have not released suspect information or confirmed any arrests, and the case remains active. The tragic shooting deeply impacted the local community, with residents expressing shock and sadness over the loss of life and questioning why such violence continues to affect young people. 🕯️💙
