🕯️ Virginia Beach Police Department Cold Case: Michael Ryan Snapp ⚾
In the early morning hours of Thursday, September 25, 2003, at approximately 2:30 a.m., gunfire shattered the quiet in the 4600 block of Downeast Court at the North Beach Apartment complex in Virginia Beach. Police and rescue personnel responded to the scene and discovered 19 year old Michael Ryan Snapp lying just inside the doorway of his apartment with a gunshot wound. Tragically, he died where he was found. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy confirmed that he died from the gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Investigators believe Michael answered a knock at his door and was shot when he opened it. Just three days shy of his 20th birthday, Michael was a sophomore business major and baseball player at Virginia Wesleyan College. Originally from Newport News, he was known for his love of the outdoors and the water, enjoying surfing, boating, rafting, skiing, and fishing. But baseball was his greatest passion.
The case remains active and unsolved.
