Did the tragic events of September 11th overshadow a brutal murder in a Rhode Island city? On that same day in 2001, 27 year old Nicole Parsons Bucki was killed, her death carefully staged to appear as a suicide. More than two decades later, her case remains unsolved, leaving her family still searching for justice. While the nation’s attention was fixed on the devastation at Ground Zero, the details of Nicole’s death were largely buried in the headlines, and her story faded from public view.
  Nicole, a young mother known for her bright personality and unforgettable smile, was living in Providence, R.I at the time. In the days leading up to her death, she had been involved in a volatile and abusive relationship. Witnesses reported seeing her argue with her ex-boyfriend, a 17 year old nicknamed “Huggie”  and she was observed with visible bruises after allegedly being dragged from her apartment. Neighbors later stated that he repeatedly tried to gain access to her home, even after police were called and a no-contact order was issued.
  Just after midnight on September 11, neighbors entered Nicole’s apartment and discovered her body in the bathtub, fully clothed, with a hairdryer placed in the water, initially suggesting suicide. However, an autopsy revealed a far more disturbing truth: Nicole had been forcibly drowned, showed signs of strangulation, and suffered internal injuries from blunt force trauma. There was no evidence of electrocution. Adding to the brutality, a crude and fresh tattoo bearing her ex-boyfriend’s nickname had been carved into her body.
Despite the troubling circumstances and a history of domestic violence, no one has ever been charged with Nicole’s murder. Investigators have acknowledged challenges in the case, including lost evidence, and while suspicions remain, proof has been insufficient to bring justice. Nicole’s mother, Robyn Parsons, has spent years advocating for her daughter, holding vigils, raising awareness, and pleading for anyone with information to come forward. Today, Nicole’s legacy lives on through her family, including the daughter she left behind, who now has a child of her own.
  For Robyn, September 11th will never only be remembered as a national tragedy, it marks the day her daughter was taken from her. Her hope remains that someone, somewhere, will come forward with the missing piece needed to finally solve the case and bring peace to their family. 💔
