Lara Emanuele, a third grade teacher at Hamilton Elementary School in Morristown, was 46 years old when she was last seen in the town of Roxbury on June 7th, 2023. She was reported missing after she failed to return home after work. Her vehicle was located the next morning in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express on Howard Boulevard in Mount Arlington, about 5 miles away from her home. Lara is a white female, 5’6” in height and weighing approximately 125 lbs, with red hair.

It was reported that Lara had a restraining order against her husband Brian but she had recently lifted it. She was in the process of divorcing him.

The search for Lara has centered around the Berkshire Valley State Wildlife Management Area, which is 2,030 acres of wetlands and heavy forest with no marked trails. It became evident that Lara was captured on surveillance footage leaving her vehicle around 5:30 pm and walking into the woods behind the Holiday Inn. She left some of her personal belongings, including her cellphone, in her car. Several search groups and K-9 units were used to search the area, but nothing of note was located.

In late September, it was announced that the official search for Lara was being suspended, despite not knowing her whereabouts. Authorities are concerned for her well being, but they do not consider her disappearance suspicious with no evidence of foul play. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
