The Missing Meaghan McCallum

The Missing
Meaghan McCallum
Case #: 15-01235
Bergen County

Meaghan McCallum was 30 years old when she was last seen on March 11, 2015 leaving her grandmother’s home at 10 John’s Street, Montvale, New Jersey. Meaghan’s grandmother, Betty Sidow says she was in bed asleep when she was awakened by Meaghan’s beloved pit bull Sweet Pea barking. It was around 3:30 a.m. Getting out of bed, her grandmother looked into Meaghan’s bedroom, and she was gone. Looking outside, she noticed Meaghan’s vehicle was also gone.
“She left in a hurry.” Betty recalled.
She was driving a black 1998 Subaru Impreza with the New Jersey license plate number N32-EAY. This vehicle was found abandoned in Long Branch, NJ on April 11, in the parking garage of Edgewater East apartments on Avenel Blvd.
A few days later when Meaghan did not show up at her job at Visiting Angels, a living assistance service for the elderly in Ramsey NJ, a statewide search began. Authorities reviewed video footage of the parking garage which showed Meghan had arrived there at about 5:30 a.m. and walked away in the direction of the boardwalk. This footage was the last solid lead in this case.
Meaghan was last seen wearing boots, a light brown Shearling type jacket, a short sleeve shirt and either black pants or a black skirt. She is a white female, 5’3-5’5” in height, between 170-210 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She wears soft contact lenses.
Meaghan suffers from bipolar schizoaffective disorder since she was 25, and she has a history of suicide attempts. She had stopped taking her psychiatric medication 1 year prior to her disappearance, she disliked the dazed feeling it would give her. She has scars on her wrists, a tattoo of a dolphin and a castle on the right side of her lower back and a tattoo of a lotus flower and a black spider on her foot. She goes by the nickname “Meg.”
There were no indications that McCallum had planned to run away. She was staying with her grandmother when she vanished, but the night before she had stopped at her parent’s home to pick up a phone charger. She left all her clothing and belongings behind, as well as Sweet Pea, whom she took to work with her.
Theories have speculated the possibility that Meaghan took her own life by walking into the ocean in Long Branch where her car was found. However, there is no evidence to support this.
Her case remains unsolved.
