The Missing
Jared M. McColloch
Knox County Indiana
Jared Michael McColloch was 33 years old when he left his home in Marion, Louisiana to visit family members in Salem, Illinois on Sunday, November 5, 2023. He was captured on video footage at Huck’s Store on West Main street, Salem, at around 1:30 a.m. during daylight savings time, so clocks were turned back an hour. He was later spotted on video in Carmi, Illinois at around 8:30 a.m. He is confirmed to have spoken to the attendant present.
The very next day, November 6th, Jared’s abandoned vehicle, a white GMC Sierra pickup truck, was located near the town of Decker, at the edge of Knox County, Indiana; a remote area immediately over the Indiana/Illinois border, parked on Wabash River Road. The truck was no longer running as it had run out of gas and the battery was dead. The keys were in the ignition, the driver-side front and back doors were open, and inside of his vehicle sat his two beloved dogs, Rusty and Roxy, unharmed.
Jared is a Caucasian male with blue eyes and blonde/strawberry blonde hair. He stands at 5’9” and weighs 175 lbs. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt with a brown Carhartt jacket (as seen in the photo,) faded blue jeans and dark blue Skechers brand tennis shoes. Around his neck was a dog tag necklace that had the fingerprints of his brother Austin and Austin’s fiancé on it.
The day the truck was found, the Vincennes Township Fire Department used their drones to assist in a walkthrough search of the area, but nothing was found. On the 7th, the fire department used a boat to search the river for a sign of Jared, and again, no results.
Jared’s mother said this is very out of character for him, as he has no knowledge of the area where his truck was found, and he would never leave his dogs behind. His family is worried for him and they have yet to receive answers.
