The Missing Sandra Kay Baker

The Missing
Sandra Kay Baker
Delaware Township, Pennsylvania

Sandra Baker was 46 years old when she was last seen on May 25th, 2000 at a Sheetz Store on Route 18 in Transfer, PA. The last person to see her was her fiancé William Thomas Crea Jr, a.k.a Billy. They were planning to marry in October of the same year. Sandra was married six times before and was still legally married to her last husband when she got engaged to Billy. Billy had already been married twice.
Billy told police that he saw Sandra between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at the Sheetz Convenience store on PA Route 18 in Pymatuning Township on May 25th. He says she was driving her dark blue four door 1988 Honda Accord.
Billy claims that Sandra called him at about 1pm and told him she was in danger and unable to return home. She promised to call him in a few days, then hung up.
A witness came forward stating they saw her driving her vehicle south towards Sharon, Pennsylvania later that day.
Sandy’s car was located abandoned at the Shenango Valley Mall the day after her disappearance, but it was repossessed by a finance company and it was sold at an auction. Police did not know where the car had been until 2004, and by that time there was no way to retrieve any evidence from the vehicle.
Sandra’s bank accounts and credit cards have not been touched since she went missing.
Sandra’s two kids, Shawn Kerbs and Shedara Binkley testified in court that they believe Billy murdered their mother, but with no hard evidence or a body, there was no way to convict. Billy agreed to be questioned by investigators after Sandra’s disappearance, but soon enough, he talked to his lawyer and stopped cooperating.
Billy has been considered a suspect since 2005, but there have been no arrests or charges placed upon him. During court proceedings, Shawn stated that Bill never called to report Sandy missing, even though they were living together at the time. Bill and his lawyer James Ecker, declined to speak about that. According to James, Billy has “never wavered in proclaiming his innocence.”
It came to light that Billy hired a private investigator named Clifford Aley to investigate Sandy’s past after they became engaged. This P.I. lied to police numerous times and he served four years in prison for hindering the investigation. Clifford did find numerous interesting things however. He was the one to figure out that Sandy was married several times and was still married to a Florida man when she accepted Billy’s marriage proposal. He also learned that Sandy was financially struggling, as she was behind on bills and car payments.
It had become apparent that Clifford was the one to call an auto finance company to report Sandy’s Honda Accord was parked at the mall.
Eventually, Clifford ended up telling authorities that he was only “peripherally” involved in Sandra’s disappearance. He claimed Billy thought Sandy was having an affair. Clifford says Billy confided to him that after an argument, he strangled Sandy and put her body in some sort of container and hid it 5 to 8 miles from his parents home in Mercer County. Her body has not been located.
Sandra’s family officially declared her dead in 2008.
