Kathleen Shea
Tyrone, Pennsylvania
Kathleen Ann Shea was 6 years old when she disappeared on March 18th of 1965 on her way to kindergarten at Adam’s Elementary, walking north between 15th and 16th streets in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Her school was only 4 blocks away from her house and she walked to school every day.
She is a white female with brown hair and blue eyes, standing at just 3’11” and weighing 47 lbs. She was last seen wearing a brown hat, a beige coat with a fur collar, a red sweater, a brown jumper, red tights, red gloves and yellow boots. Her date of birth is listed as February 2, 1959.
Some sources state that a crossing guard helped Kathleen cross the street that day, and on the way she was said to have spoken with a woman who was watching her own daughter cross the street at the same time. In fact, there were multiple children in the neighborhood who also saw Kathy as they walked to school. She was only about 1 block away from the school when she went missing. Strangely, when Kathleen disappeared, her backpack and lunch box had vanished with her.
Kathleen’s teacher assumed she was out sick, and Kathleen’s mom, Mary, thought she was at school, so no one realized she was missing for several hours. When Kathy didn’t return home later, Mary called her teacher. After they figured out she never made it to school, Mary immediately called authorities.
Kathleen Shea’s case is considered a non-family abduction and the little girl has not been located despite the efforts of law enforcement, search dogs and volunteers. Her parents passed away in 1997 and in 2006, never giving up hope of finding their daughter.
If Kathleen is alive, she is 65 years old.
