The Missing
James Zapolski
Princeton, New Jersey
James B. Zapolski was just 15 years old when he vanished from Princeton, New Jersey on July 23rd of 1966. He was about to enter his sophomore year at Princeton High School that fall. He lived with his parents on the 10th block of Washington Street. He left his home on his brand new most prized possession, his gold and white French-made 15-speed bicycle with a “Tour De France Dynamax” decal. He saved up his money doing odd jobs around town and purchased the bike just 8 days before.
Three people reported seeing James riding his bike on Mt. Lucas Road. He was reported missing when he didn’t come back home after dark.
James is a white male with brown hair and green eyes, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 150 lbs at the time of his disappearance. He was last seen wearing a white sport shirt with blue stripes, white cut-off jean shorts and sneakers.
James was very independent and intelligent. He had good grades and wanted a career in law. He had aspirations to ride his beloved bicycle all the way down to Florida, and he had started riding 20 miles a day every day in order to prepare himself for his trip.
The day after James vanished, his bike was located by a group of teenage boys in the Delaware-Raritan Canal in Griggstown, NJ, which is around 5 miles away from his home. The bike was not identified right away because his “Tour De France” decal had been removed. The canal was searched for human remains or any other clues but nothing was found.
What happened to James?
