Leocardia Stavitskie
Middletown Township, New Jersey
Leocardia “Lottie” Stavitskie was 56 years old living with her husband Alexander and their three kids in a home on Kentucky Avenue in Middletown township, New Jersey. Leocardia was last seen by her husband lying awake on the couch in their living room at around 5:30 a.m. on January 3rd, 1985. Alexander claims he checked on his wife again an hour later and she was gone. This is when he called the police. Leocardia’s car, glasses, cigarettes, dentures, wallet, money, and pocketbook were left at home. She was last seen wearing a black waist-length coat with stretchy slacks and brown shoes.
During the investigation, a party of 40+ volunteers searched for Leocardia in “wooded, swampy and beachfront areas in East Keansburg,” but found no clues.
Alex and their 18 year old son were both questioned, and both passed polygraphs.
Leocardia is listed as a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 5 ft 1” and weighing around 150 lbs at the time. She was a nervous and timid person who lived quietly and didn’t like to talk openly about her feelings, according to everyone that knew her. She was a kind and loving wife and mother who loved country music.
Leocardia’s daughter said, “She never did anything like this before. My father used to say she went for walks. All I can think of is, she took a walk and someone could have grabbed her.”
Several agencies performed extensive searches in the weeks after Leocardia vanished, including some with helicopters, but this did not provide any answers.
Leocardia’s case remains unsolved.
