The Missing
Mayushi V. Bhagat
Jersey City, New Jersey
Mayushi V. Bhagat was a 24 year old college student at NYIT living with her parents at 35 Vroom Street in Jersey City, New Jersey, when her last contact with anyone was around April 29th or May 1st of 2019. She is listed as an Indian female with black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5’10” and weighing 150 to 160 lbs at the time of her disappearance. She speaks English, Hindi and Urdu. She was last seen wearing colorful pajama pants and a black t-shirt. She has friends in South Plainfield, NJ and may be somewhere in that area. She is described as intelligent, responsible, kind, and “very capable.”
She was born in Vadodara, Gujarat, India on July 12, 1994 and moved to the USA in 2016 to further her education. She was on an F1 Student Visa. She first studied at the University of New Hampshire and then transferred to the New York Institute of Technology in NYC. She was almost fully finished with her coursework for a masters degree in electrical engineering.
Mayushi had plans to move to California after she graduated, and she already had a job lined up as an engineer there.
Her father Vikas had a text conversation with her on WhatsApp at around 1 a.m. on May 1st, saying she was fine and did not want to be bothered. She stated she would return home on May 3rd. This never happened unfortunately, and Mayushi has not been heard from since. Her family does not believe it was really Mayushi replying to Vikas, as the English was typed out poorly and Mayushi was fluent.
She is considered missing under suspicious circumstances. The NJ State Police and the FBI are collaborating in the investigation.
There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Mayushi.
If you have any further information, please contact the Jersey City Police Department at 201-547-5477, The NJ State Police at 609-882-2000, or call the FBI Field Office of Newark at 873-792-3000.
