Norma Yates was just about to turn 63 years old when she vanished on July 29, 2023 from her home on Vineyard Road in the Atco section of Winslow Township. She was reported missing on July 31. On July 29 at 5:00 p.m., the police were called to conduct a welfare check on Norma. A concerned neighbor claimed she seemed disoriented. They found her charging her phone by a building near her home. She told them she was fine, and officers gave her a bottle of water, because she told them she was thirsty. She reportedly went back home. By the next day, Norma was gone. She had plans with a friend to go for coffee, but she did not show up.
Nicole, Norma’s daughter, says she would never walk away from her family. Her mother did not have a car and she would never vanish and miss her own birthday.
“We thought maybe she went to the shore or something like that and didn’t notify us. We became increasingly concerned because her pocketbook, identification, debit card, and cell phone were left behind.” said Nicole.
Police started investigating immediately after she was reported missing. Checking places as far as North New Jersey and Philadelphia Pennsylvania. They checked home surveillance cameras and searched abandoned homes and properties with K9’s but there were no clues as to where Norma had gone.
Nicole says Norma is a tidy person, and her trailer home had been left in a state of disarray which is very uncharacteristic of her. She was in daily contact with her family and had recently become the primary care giver to her young grandchildren while their father was going through treatments for cancer out of state.
Norma is 5’ 1” and weighs 130 pounds. She has graying brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray tank top over a purple tank top and denim shorts. She left without shoes. She has one singular small tattoo of a ladybug on her shoulder.
