62 year old Raymond “Ray” Emilo LoCascio vanished from Monroe, New York on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He was last seen at 2:30 p.m. dropping his wife Barbara off at her job in his rental car, a 2006 Ford Taurus, then setting out to go to his own place of employment in Peekskill, New York as a bank courier. At 3:30 p.m., he was reportedly spotted at the Silver Mine Lake parking area on Seven Lakes Drive. He briefly spoke to his wife on the phone at 3:45 p.m., but he ultimately never made it to work, and was never seen again.
The rental car was found two days later abandoned at the Turkey Hill Parking lot, not far from where he was possibly seen, off Route 6 in Harriman State Park in Woodbury, NY. The vehicle was locked but the keys were missing. Rescuers combed through the woods in the state park but there was no trace of Ray.
Harriman State Park is the opposite direction in which Raymond was supposed to have been traveling.
The day he disappeared, Raymond had been fitted for a new tuxedo that he was going to be wearing to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding in October. He was very excited about this upcoming event.
Raymond is described as being a white male with blue eyes and greying brown hair. He is 5’ 10” and weighed 190-220 pounds at the time. He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a “BeavEx” Logo, a pair of denim shorts, tan loafers and possibly a black or blue baseball cap. He wears glasses.
Ray is diabetic and has heart disease. He had two stents implanted in his heart the month before he went missing. His medication was left at home. Barbara says he had been awake since 2 a.m., had not yet eaten anything that day and he may have become disoriented.
Raymond and his wife were having financial struggles at the time, and Ray was making plans to apply for a new job. Their home was in foreclosure, but she does not think these issues were the reason for his disappearance.
Raymond’s case remains unsolved.
