Jeremiah Demitrus Moneta was 22 years old when he was last seen on January 15, 2025 near North Pine Street and West Cleveland Avenue in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Jeremiah was new to the area; he is from Kansas City, Missouri, where he lived with his uncle. He moved out to Oklahoma 8 months prior, to live with his mother Jamie after his uncle passed away. Eventually he was able to find a job and had recently gotten a new cellphone. He was working on moving his things into his own apartment in Ponca.
He suddenly stopped reaching out to his family and it made everyone nervous. He did not show up for work when he was scheduled to be there on January 16th. Jamie called the police on January 20th.
It was said that Jeremiah’s apartment showed no signs of a struggle or disturbance.
Jeremiah’s old cellphone was found to be in an unnamed woman’s possession, and his asthma inhaler was located either on the porch or in the backyard of a stranger’s house on the 400 block of North Union Street.
Jeremiah’s mother says the day her son vanished, she got an unusual phone call.
“A lady called me Friday night, the Friday night that he went missing, saying that she found his inhaler and his old phone. I just shot a text to his new phone saying, ‘hey, this lady found your phone and your inhaler’. And I was like, that’s weird, we couldn’t get a hold of him.”
His family members say he never left home without his inhaler.
The family made several calls to the local hospitals and jails trying to locate Jeremiah to no avail. They continued to call his new cellphone number but Jamie says the phone would get picked up and then immediately the call would disconnect. She stated; “We would call, they would pick it up and hang up on us. We would text, we could see that they would read it and then no response.”
The woman who had Jeremiah’s old cellphone then changed her story once police were involved. Instead claiming she didn’t “find” the phone, she claimed that Jeremiah sold it to her for $20.
Jeremiah is described as 5’ 7” and weighing 130 pounds. He is a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He had facial hair at the time and was last seen wearing a Kansas City Chief’s hoodie with jeans and work boots. He has a playboy bunny logo tattooed on his chest.
