On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 34 year old Jerwaine Gorman was shot in the passenger seat of a Mercedes Benz which was parked in front of 114-25 167th Street in Jamaica, Queens, New York. His female acquaintance was sitting in the driver’s seat, but was unharmed. Police said a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt walked up to the vehicle and fired once, shooting Jerwaine in the torso before running into the yard of a nearby abandoned house, and then vanishing. In the area, investigators found a gun and the hoodie the man was seen wearing. Four people who were inside of the building were arrested and questioned, but nothing came of this. 
Jerwaine was married and had 3 children. He was well known in his community, being a business man, a real estate investor and a political activist. He was a founder of the South East Queens County Young Democrats group. He was also a beloved youth football coach. People who live in town have stated that Jerwaine was instrumental in getting a stop sign placed at a busy intersection in front of his daughter’s school, and frequently advocated against gun violence.
Some sources claimed however, that Jerwaine was a “swindler with a lengthy rap sheet, ranging from grand larceny to assault.” He supposedly had many financial and legal troubles. There are even rumors Jerwaine was involved in a love triangle at some point or another. 
Regardless, Mister Gorman’s murder remains unsolved.
