The Missing Steven Craig Damman

The Missing
Steven Craig Damman
Eat Meadow, New York

Steven Craig Damman was just 2 years old when he vanished outside of a grocery store in the Fair Food Market shopping center along with his 7 month old sister Pamela in East Meadow, New York on October 31, 1955. At about 2:45 p.m., their mother Marilyn left Steven standing outside holding a bag of jelly beans with baby Pamela strapped into a stroller as she went inside to shop, which was a common thing to do at the time.
After about 10 minutes, Marilyn came back outside and realized both of her children were gone.
Police were contacted and a massive search began.
Baby Pamela and the stroller were eventually located a few yards away from where they were left, but Steven was nowhere to be found.
Marilyn commented that Steven was a “Momma’s boy” and that he was not known to wander far.
The photo of the shopping center is marked “A” and “B.” Point “A” is where Steven was standing with his sister and “B” is where Pamela was found unharmed.
So, what happened to Steven?
He was last seen wearing dungarees, a blue shirt, a red sweater and brown shoes.
He is described as being a white male standing at 3’ 2” and weighing 32 pounds and having blonde/strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a small scar on his chin and a mole on the back of his right calf. He walked with his toes pointed outward. He has a healed fracture on his left arm, and was under treatment for “kidney growth” at the time.
According to Doe Network, one witness claimed to have seen “six people pick up the boy” from in front of the store. But nothing came of this.
In November of 1955, a student at Queens College in New York City wrote three letters demanding money from Steven’s family in exchange for his safe return. It turned out to be a hoax. In 2009, a man in Michigan claimed he was Steven, but DNA from Pamela proved otherwise.
Steven Craig Damman remains missing to this day.
