The Missing
Duane Robert Talmon Jr.
Clarence, New York

Duane Robert Talmon Jr., a 16 year old student at Williamsville North High School in Clarence, NY, called his mother on October 30, 1974, telling her not to pick him up from school because he was going out with a friend and would meet her later on Miles Road. He never showed up and has not been seen or heard from since. He is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, 5’8” and 145 pounds, last seen wearing a shirt, wrangler jeans and black boots,
In 1986, a man named Michael Thuman, then 18 at the time of Duane’s disappearance, confessed to shooting and killing Duane during an argument over a drug deal in town. Thuman claimed he buried Duane in a wooded, swampy area off North French Road in Amherst. Despite extensive searches, no remains were ever found.
Although initially not prosecuted due to lack of physical evidence, Thuman was charged in 2003 after new witness statements surfaced. He ultimately accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to first degree manslaughter and receiving a 5 to 15 year prison sentence on August 14, 2003.
Duane’s remains have never been located, and he remains classified as missing under suspicious circumstances.
