In August 2004, 31 year old William “Billy” Smolinski Jr. vanished after asking a neighbor in Waterbury, CT, to watch his beloved dog, Harley, while he went to check out a truck he was interested in purchasing. He left behind his own truck, wallet, and keys, and was never seen again. For two decades, Billy’s family has searched tirelessly, following every lead, tip, and rumor. Despite searches, interviews, and even cadaver dogs uncovering possible evidence, the biggest question remains unanswered. Where is Billy?
Police believe foul play is likely. Just before disappearing, Billy ended a relationship after discovering infidelity, and one of his final calls was a warning voicemail to the man involved. Over the years, witnesses have reported strange sightings, men carrying something in the woods, and someone hauling large bags into a deserted area. Still, no definitive answers. Billy was 5’11”, 200 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, and several distinctive tattoos of blue crosses. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a denim shirt.
A $60,000 reward is being offered for information leading to answers in Billy’s case. His family is still fighting, still searching, and still hoping for the truth.
