In June 1997, 26 year old Lori Ceci Bova disappeared from Lakewood, New York, after stepping outside her apartment around 2 a.m. following an argument with her husband, Tyrone Bova, after dinner at Red Lobster. She reportedly went out for a cigarette, leaving them behind along with her purse and keys, and was never seen again. A detail that troubled her family, since Lori was afraid of the dark and unlikely to wander far. Over the years, investigations produced more questions than answers, complicated by misinformation, uncooperative witnesses, and an influx of psychic tips that led nowhere. Multiple sets of remains discovered decades later were carefully examined, but authorities confirmed none belonged to Lori. Tyrone Bova quickly moved away and started a new life after Lori vanished. He later died in a car accident in Utah in 2018, leaving the case without resolution. Despite renewed searches, public vigils, and continued advocacy from investigators, volunteers, and loved ones, Lori’s disappearance remains unsolved, with police urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring long-awaited answers.
