Mary Morales, 36, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was reported missing on March 3, 1999, and found the next morning nude beside a guardrail along Interstate 91 in Vernon, Vermont. An autopsy confirmed she was the victim of homicide, and investigators believe she was likely killed in Massachusetts before her body was dumped in Vermont. Police have identified several persons of interest but no arrests have ever been made. Authorities have considered the possibility that her murder was a retaliatory act connected to her husband’s alleged drug activity at the time.
