🕯️ Lynne Schulze: Missing Since 1971 🕯️

Lynne Kathryn Schulze was an 18 year old freshman at Middlebury College who vanished on December 10, 1971, in Middlebury, Vermont. Originally from Simsbury, she was last seen on campus while heading to an English Drama final exam. Walking with friends, Lynne said she needed to return to her dorm to retrieve her favorite pen; she never came back. When her friends checked her room, they found her wallet, identification, and belongings still inside. Earlier that day she had visited a local health food store and was later seen standing near the bus stop on Court Street at approximately 2:15 p.m. This is the last confirmed sighting of her.
    Lynne was described as a 5’3″, 115-pound white female with light brown hair, blue eyes, and severe acne at the time. She was wearing a navy pullover sweater, brown nylon ski parka, blue jeans, hiking boots, and a silver ring with turquoise stones. She may have carried about $30 in cash. Lynne left behind all personal items, including her checkbook and ID, which was considered out of character. Though she had expressed homesickness and mild depression and had mentioned to friends the idea of starting a new life, she had registered for spring classes and remained dedicated to her studies.
    There were unconfirmed reports that she was seen hitchhiking along Route 7 and other sightings over the years, but none were verified. Investigators later examined a possible connection to suspected serial killer Robert Durst, who had owned the health food store she visited and lived in the area at the time; however, no evidence has linked him to her disappearance. Authorities consider Lynne’s case suspicious and believe she may have been a victim of foul play. More than five decades later, her disappearance remains unsolved, and her surviving family continues to seek answers. 💔
