Essex County NJ Jane Doe (1981)

💐 An Unnamed Victim, A Life That Mattered 💐

For more than four decades, this woman has remained unidentified. She was someone’s daughter, sister, friend, or loved one, yet her name has been lost to time. Her life ended in tragedy, and her family may still be searching for answers without ever knowing what happened. She deserves to be remembered, and she deserves to have her identity restored.

This unidentified Black female was found murdered in Newark, New Jersey, on September 29, 1981. Investigators believe she may have died sometime around September 1, 1981. She was estimated to have been born between 1946 and 1951, stood approximately 5’4″ to 5’5″ tall, weighed about 145 pounds, and had black hair. Her eye color could not be determined. Her left ear was pierced, though it is unknown whether her right ear had also been pierced.

She was wearing a silver cameo-style pin on the lapel of her blue blazer, a white post earring in her left ear, and a silver bangle bracelet on her left wrist. She was dressed in a floral-print blouse, a blue blazer jacket, and a red skirt.

Investigators also discovered details that may help identify her. X-rays revealed she had previously suffered a fractured right arm, and she was missing her four upper front teeth. She had also received extensive dental treatment at a clinic. Her fingerprints, full-body X-rays, and dental records have been preserved and remain available for comparison.

Although the years have passed, there is still hope that someone will recognize these details. Even the smallest memory or piece of information could help restore her name and finally provide answers to the family who may still be wondering what became of her.

If you have any information that could help identify this woman, please contact the New Jersey State Police at 1-800-709-7090. One call could finally bring her home. 🕯️
