The Missing
Barry Douglas
Galeton, Pennsylvania
Barry Keith Douglas was 31 years old when he was last seen walking away from his home in the Pine Creek Village Trailer Park in Galeton, Pennsylvania on July 3rd of 1988. He was walking east on Rt. 6 toward Wellsboro, PA. He stopped to have a conversation with some acquaintances along the way, and that was the last he was heard from. Barry suffers from schizophrenia and may have memory loss or amnesia. In the beginning of the year, Barry was hospitalized for 22 days after suffering what was described as a nervous breakdown.
Barry is a white male with red hair and blue eyes, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 200 lbs at the time. He was last seen wearing a bright yellow t-shirt with the phrase “Thousand Island River Rat” printed in black lettering on the front, with blue jeans, white socks and sneakers. The only items missing from Barry’s possessions were his wallet and his .30-06 rifle. His Ford Mustang, his keys, and his cigarettes were left at home, his trailer door was propped open and the radio was left on. It is reportedly uncharacteristic of Barry to leave without locking his doors.
There was a large-scale search of the area and there was no sign of Barry anywhere.
Barry’s mother passed away in 2002 without knowing what happened to her son. Barry’s sister Penny is still hunting for answers.
