The Missing Jennifer Cahill-Shadle

The Missing
Jennifer Cahill-Shadle
Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Jennifer Cahill-Shadle was 48 years old when she was last seen on May 15, 2014 on surveillance footage at a Wal-Mart on North Atherton Street in State College, Pennsylvania at 4:51 p.m. She is seen leaving and walking across the parking lot towards a Dollar Tree. Her last contact with anyone was a phone call to one of her daughters that afternoon to make plans to meet up so she could pick up her mail. She never arrived.
Jennifer’s mother had tried multiple times to contact her daughter, but was unable to reach her. She called police and was officially reported missing on May 20th of 2014.
There was an interaction with her at the Simply Tan in the same shopping plaza as Wal-Mart. The business owner recalls Jennifer coming into the store between 7 and 8 p.m. and she was soaking wet, saying she had lost her wallet. The owner and a few employees tried to help find the wallet but were not able to locate it.
There was yet another sighting of Jennifer that night, between 10 and 11 p.m. she was seen leaving the Don Patron Mexican Grill at the North Atherton Place Plaza on North Atherton Street in Patton Township near the state college in PA.
As shown in the photo of the Wal-Mart footage, Jennifer was last seen wearing a light gray top with dark colored capri pants, dark colored shoes with a dark colored shoulder/cross body bag. She is a white female with blue eyes and brown hair standing at 5’4” and weighing 112 pounds at the time. Her ears are pierced and she has a surgical scar on her stomach. Her date of birth is listed as January 9th, 1965.
Jennifer did not have a permanent address and was staying in hotels with her friends.  She last stayed at the Rodeway Inn. She came to State College to be closer to her three children. She did not have a car and she mainly travelled by taxi, on foot or occasionally using the “Mega Bus” for trips outside the area.
After it was realized she was missing, her estranged husband Sean Shadle told police she had checked into a rehabilitation facility for her alcoholism, but that turned out to be false. Jennifer did not have a cell phone, credit card, money or extra clothes with her when she disappeared. Her other family members don’t believe she would have left of her own accord. She was in the process of a divorce at the time, and her husband was ordered to pay Jennifer $5000 a month in spousal support. Sean is considered a person of interest. He took a lie detector test with inconclusive results and police searched his property for her body but nothing was found.
In 2023, Jennifer was declared legally deceased.
Her case remains unsolved.
