The Missing Linda Lee St. Germaine

The Missing
Linda Lee St. Germaine
Schuyler Falls, New York

12 year old Linda Lee St. Germaine disappeared on February 13, 1973 from the Lake Edge Motel on Route 9 in Peru, New York where she was staying with her family temporarily, as her house had recently been badly damaged in a fire.
The motel is no longer in operation. She was reported missing by her mother at 6:20 p.m. after Linda failed to come home for dinner. She told her brother that she was running away and was going to walk across the ice on nearby Lake Champlain to get to Burlington, Vermont.
During their search, police found footprints leading from the motel across the icy lake to an area called Valcour Island, but the footprints stopped there. It was theorized that Linda fell through the thin ice nearby, but none of the surrounding ice was broken and did not indicate any signs of her entering the water.
Linda was never heard from again and her body was never found.
At the time, Linda was 5’1” and weighed 100 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She has a birthmark that runs from the center of her chin down to her throat. She was last seen wearing brown corduroy pants with a blue/green hooded parka and brown suede boots.
