The Missing John Lake

The Missing John Lake
Manhattan, New York

37 year old John Lake was a sports editor for Newsweek Magazine when he was last seen on the night of December 10, 1967 after having dinner with an acquaintance in Manhattan, New York. According to her, he had several drinks during dinner and dropped her off at her apartment in Midtown, New York. He then began walking to a subway station to get downtown to his apartment which was located in Greenwich Village. He had never been seen again.
John was described as a white male with dark hair and brown eyes, standing at around 5’ 11” and weighing 160 to 190 pounds. He may have been wearing a navy blue blazer with striped lining when he vanished. He may also have been wearing a black turtleneck shirt. He wore thick black rimmed glasses.
John has a small scar on his chin, scars on both knees, a vaccination scar on his upper left arm, two pock marks on the left side of his back, two pock marks on the back of his neck and one on the back of his mid upper right arm.
Some of John’s coworkers at Newsweek believe his disappearance was voluntary. He had been depressed for at least a year due to a failed marriage and his unhappiness at work. He had also been struggling financially. The consensus is that he wanted to get away, but they did not think he wanted to harm himself.
He was legally declared deceased in 1975. What happened to John Lake?
